I came to the USA one and half years ago. I sold my jewelry store in Taiwan and decided to pursue art. Everybody thought I was crazy..
I was so nervous, because I didn't have confidence in my English, and I had never been to the USA before, but I still wanted to try and explore it.
I must say，this path is NOT EASY, I didn't know any body here and I was so afraid to speak English in the beginning. (Now I am getting a little bit better...)
In the beginning, we bought a van to do a road trip around the USA. We spent 4 months, sleeping in the van and showering in the gym...We searched for the best place to stay.
Finally we chose to stay in Oregon for the first year, we opened a gallery and sold art at the Portland Saturday Market. We were so really lucky to make so many good friends and we experienced the art market life. After that we started to do some outdoor art fairs, art shows and a huge art expo.
Now here we are, this May we moved to Brooklyn, NY. We started in our a small studio! After several art shows in NY, we are lucky to have some new collectors and friends!
I have to admit that sometimes it does feel overwhelming to me. On one hand we are doing art, on the other hand we are doing marketing and managing our time to do art fairs....
But I think this is what life is really about. Trying to figure things out and overcome the difficulties.
I am a VERY stubborn person.
Once I decide to do something, I never give up!
Even it is hard, I will still keep going, keep fighting. I believe we will get to the place that we dream about!
